Garbage Can Location and Pick-up, Trash, Recycling, Toilet Paper

There is a small garbage container with plastic liners under the sink in Alegria.  Place your garbage, in the plastic bags we provide, into one of the dumpsters outside the “Village” gate. Garbage pickup is usually twice per week but on irregular schedules.

Recycling: There is no consistent curb-side recycling done in Abadiania.  Instead, all refuse is, at the collection level, examined for recyclables.  We usually help this process by placing our plastics and glass recyclables in separate bags -- but then place those into the same garbage bins.  

Toilet Paper: Please note that essentially in all of South America, and also in Abadiania and in Alegria, no toilet paper (and no other manufactured items) may be discarded into the toilet. The septic and sewer systems are simply not designed for this. Please use the trash receptacle with blue plastic bags we provide instead, and dispose of these bags into the trash bin at the curb.
