Payment Options and Procedures
Owners strongly prefer and encourage payments by
credit card.
Two payments are required: the $300 "Deposit" and the
rental "Balance."
Payment of the Deposit is required to hold the reservation and is only acceptable in US$ by credit card via the highly secure Internet-Bank PayPal (no fee applies to this payment, and there is no requirement for the renter to have a PayPal account). If the rental date is within 30 days from date of booking, payment of the rental Balance is due immediately and can also only be made via PayPal – and no fee applies.
If the rental date is further out than 30 days,
the rental Balance is due no later than 30 days prior to the
rental date and may be paid by personal check (U.S. Bank only)
or by credit card via PayPal, in which latter case a 2%*
PayPal fee co-payment applies.** However, even if the
rental date is further out than 30 days, we often do offer the
renter ad-hoc the option of paying the entire balance
immediately via PayPal, and then without charging the 2% fee.
For all credit card payments, the Owner will issue an invoice
via PayPal which will be e-mailed to the renter, upon which the
renter can conveniently and securely complete the payment. The
Renter may have to ascertain that the this invoice (from PayPal)
does not get hung up in his/her spam filter.
Chasing after payments is a time-consuming
activity for the owner. You WILL NOT be reminded on any
payment due dates except credit card payment of the rental
Balance. A late payment fee of US$30 may be automatically added
to the balance payable if the payment is delayed without
reasonable cause by more than 48 hours from the time the request
was issued or the payment was due. If payment is not received
within 5 days of the due date, the reservation may be canceled
and the apartment may be opened up for other rentals, and money
paid shall be forfeited. Reservations may be reinstated, and
forfeited money reapplied, upon payment of the amount due, if
the property is still available, at the Owner’s discretion.

* The fee co-payment is 3% if the payment
originates in a country other than the United
States.
** We are also set up to receive payment in EUR by
electronic transfer to our bank account in Germany.
The US$/EUR exchange rate given at http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/
should be used for conversion of the payable amount in EUR
on the day when the payment is made. We will
communicate our account details if the renter chooses this
option.
