Warranties and Representations

In a rental apartment with as many amenities as Alegria offers, such as a shared clothes washer, refrigerator, gas stove,* wireless Internet, safe box, etc., it can happen that any one of these appliances or devices can experience an accidental breakdown. In such a circumstance, we will do what is reasonably possible, given the circumstances, to repair the defect, after we hear about it. However, the immediate availability of qualified service personnel cannot be guaranteed, and it may happen that the problem cannot reasonably be fixed during the duration of your rental period.

It can also happen that problems with the water or electricity supply or Internet service arise which are entirely out of our control. We do not guarantee that all amenities and/or utilities will function to your expectations during the entire duration of your stay, and we will not offer any refunds of rents due to an unexpected service interruption or a device breakdown.

Please understand that the Alegria apartment is located in a modest town in an -- albeit rapidly improving and modernizing -- developing country.  Some of the basic amenities we Americans and Europeans are very much used to, such as hardware stores that carry almost anything one could possibly need, or trained mechanics, electricians, plumbers or electronics experts may be very hard and unreliably and untimely to come by.  While we will make every effort to keep Alegria fully functioning, and to take care of problems as they arise, we cannot guarantee this to the degree of satisfaction Americans and Western Europeans are used to.  Please understand.

Furthermore, we have, in our communication leading to your rental of Alegria, represented all amenities fairly and accurately and will not offer compensation or refund of rents paid in any form or amount, if certain amenities are not available or not to your liking or expectations.

* The gas stove is fed by bottled gas.  One bottle may last as long as a year under average use conditions.  We do supply those bottles, but should it run empty during your stay, we would need to be notified.  Someone will then come and install a new bottle on short notice.
