Bella Vista
Frequently Asked Questions

Fireplace

The Bella Vista home has a conventional wood fireplace, which is a highly attractive amenity in a vacation rental home.

We supply firewood as a courtesy; but should our supply run out or turn out to be unusable due to the weather, you can purchase more at the supermarkets in Gualala.

Please observe the following:
-- open vents before lighting fire (turn big iron knobs counter-clockwise);
-- use only wood kindling, such as you may find in a bin in the driveway, or special fire-starters (we usually supply those as a courtesy to our renters -- but again, if the supply has run out, you can get them at the Surf Supermarket in Gualala); only tiny amounts (perhaps 1 cubic-inch) of those commercial fire starters will do the job.

-- leave a window open a bit to let fresh air in;
-- keep furniture away from the heat of the fireplace.
-- DO NOT REMOVE ASHES or partially burnt logs when you depart; for reasons of fire safety, our housekeepers will do the fireplace cleanup.
