Space Heating; Air Conditioning
The climate is so moderate in Abadiania that one
seldom finds air conditioning, and essentially never space
heating in buildings. Due to the construction
methodologies -- brick, concrete and stone -- the thermal mass
of a building is so large that the daily temperature extremes
are effectively evened out inside buildings in every season, and
air conditioning or space heating is seldom experienced as
lacking.
Nevertheless, to fend off
afternoon temperature extremes in the living room and the
bedrooms, we have provided air conditioning in Casa de
Luz. The units are located in the living room and in the
two upstairs bedrooms. They can be controlled with
remotes with quite confusing details. We recommend using
the standard setting which supplies 25 degrees (C).
-- push the orange on/off button.
-- then push the "MODO" button multiple times until a
triangle appears in the top left corner of the screen.
-- push on/off again to turn the unit off.
To conserve energy, we
request to use the miniblinds to blend out the afternoon sun,
and to have the windows closed when A/C is running. On
your arrival you may find the air conditioner unit
unplugged. If this is so, and if you wish to use air
conditioning, please unplug it when you depart.
