Casa de Luz has a regular landline telephone
(+55-62-3343-2136), whereby "+55" is the country code and "62" the
area code, neither of which need to be dialed for local calls.
This is our private home, and we have not de-activated
long-distance calling, which, if used, can become quite expensive
in Brazil. We ask you to use
this phone for placing calls only to local numbers
(i.e., numbers that start with 3343
...). Not even local cell phones should
be called from this landline phone.
We recommend that our renters bring their own cellular phones, for
which they can inexpensively purchase a chip for local calls, if
they so desire. Chips are available at various places in
Abadiania, including conveniently at Ribeiro's
market (see http://searanchrentalhomes.com/acviews/FAQ-CL-shopping.htm).
Alternatively, or in addition,
we recommend that renters bring their personal smart phone,
tablet, or laptop computer equipped with Skype or a similar
Internet-based telephoning capability with which one can make
inexpensive local, national and international calls. Some
smart phones, such as iPhones Model 6 and up, have a feature
called "WiFi-Calling." With this feature you can call and
be called from everywhere free of charge, as long as you are
connected to a WiFi system, such as the one we have at Casa de
Luz.
