Alta Vista -- Frequently Asked Questions --

Fireplaces

The Alta Vista home has two gas fireplaces, one in the living room and one in the lower master bedroom. Please observe:
-- The pilots must always be on;
-- Both fireplaces function as freeze protection back-up heaters.  The respective thermostats (one in the stairwell and one in the lower Master-Bath) are set at 45 degrees and must not be changed by renters.
-- Both fireplaces have a switch that overrides the thermostat and permits turning the fire on and off at any time.
    (The switch is located on the upper right side of the LR fireplace, and on the right side of the wooden mantle of the downstairs fireplace).
-- Note that, when the LR fireplace is on, the regular central heating furnace will "think" that less heat is needed, and the downstairs rooms will remain a bit cooler;
-- Move furniture and fabrics away from the heat of the fireplace;
-- If you change any settings (such as accent light or gas flow), return to original setting before you depart.
