Telephone
Reasonable use of the telephone in the rental home is free of charge to renters. (As "reasonable" we define up to approximately 30 minutes of placed call time on average per rental day). This includes long-distance calls within the U.S. and also to stationary phones (not cell phones) in foreign countries.
However, please be advised that the house
telephone is Internet-based, which means that in the
rare event of an Internet outage the phone will not work,*
and you would then have no way to place or receive a call except
with your private cell phone.
The circumstance that the phone is Internet-based can come in
handy when you experience difficulties logging on to the Internet
with your laptop: if you can hear a dial tone, the problem is
likely with your computer; if there is no dial tone, the Internet
is likely the culprit. In that case try to re-boot the modem,
located in the loft, simply by unplugging the entire power strip
from the outlet and plugging it back in after a few seconds. If,
after a couple of minutes, the problem persists, you might want to
report the problem by calling the Internet provider with your
cell phone: Sea Ranch Connect, 1-866-270-1613.

* With regard to electric power
outages, Internet and telephone are on a battery back-up
system that will keep the phone working for about an hour
after begin of a brown-out, provided that the supplier of
the Internet service is not also affected by the same
electricity outage.
